We have a bath, book, bed routine we use with Miss Three every night. Reading is such a fantastic way to develop language and stimulate imagination. Hubby is usually on book duties but unfortunately, most nights he somehow manages to put himself to sleep in the process and is often scolded by Miss Three, “Daddy, keep reading words!”
The Wonky Donkey by Craig Smith is one of our favourite books. Here’s my little tribute to all the mum’s out there based on this gem of a book:
I was walking down the road and I saw a Mummy...
She hadn't had any sleep or had time to shave in a month.
Her coffee was sitting stone cold on the bench and as a result she didn't have the energy to mince words.
Her clothes didn't match and her bra wasn't quite as supportive as it was when she bought it 10 years ago.
Her head was sore and her nerves on edge from the million questions her child had asked throughout the day.
She was covered in grubby fingerprints but she considered the day a success as she'd managed to hide multiple vegetables in the dinner thanks to some skillful dicing and a healthy serve of cheese.
Her house was a mess but her heart was full.
She was a scary, hairy, frankly cranky, daggy, saggy, achy, shaky, sticky, tricky, grubby, lovely Mummy.
